Awakening at Dusk
“The Awakening” is a five part cast aluminum sculpture created by J. Seward Johnson, Jr. for the 1980 International Sculpture Exhibition and Conference. The “giant” is situated on the grounds of Haines Point and the banks of the Potomac River. Picture a 100 foot man clawing his way out of the earth and you have the awakening.

This image was taken at the end of the day and during one of the few snow storms we had in DC. I made some minor adjustments to light and saturation to provide for the sepia tone. But I did little alteration beyond that. I hope you enjoy this piece.

Wow. This is so surreal, especially with the snow. Very cool (pardon the pun).
