Snowy Tracks
Snowy Tracks is a shot I took in Colorado Springs on the morning after a snowstorm. The opportunity was perfect since the temperature was in the teens; the hard freeze set many images in time just for me. I chose to produce this image in sepia tone to show that time is not absolute. This image really has a lot in it. The mountains surrounding Pikes Peak in the background display the strength and power of nature framing the struggle and ingenuity of mankind to harness that power and tame it. The power plant billowing steam displays that creative capacity to harness that very power whiles the locomotive sitting on the track depicts the limits of our imagination. The many tracks leading off into infinity demonstrates the endless opportunities to expand our minds and to create alternatives to the single path. Like this switching station, the path(s) we choose to take in this world need not be definitive as long as we recognize the opportunities when they come, though unlike this image and the day this picture was taken, life will not stand idly as we vacillate. Though choices must be made, they are not set and we will often find opportunities to change our path and explore new ways.

This is my favorite one in the snow series. Sepia tone enhances this eerie-mysterious feeling that I sense. Great shot!

I love Colorado Springs! This wonderful image has an antique, nostalgic look, Takes me back...to a time before I was born.

I like the curved lines made by the track. They lead you right into the image.
